Henderson County Farm to School Action Plan Meeting

With Childhood obesity rates rising and local farms struggling, farm to school (including local food served in school cafeterias, farm field trips, fresh food cooking, and school gardens) has become a hot topic across the country. Henderson County is no exception. From preschoolers eating garden fresh sugar snap peas to local farmers diversifying into new markets, there is a lot happening in Henderson County. This meeting is designed to bring together stakeholders who are already working for change in their community. County schools, local farmers, area non profits, and Cooperative Extension will be involved in this discussion of what is currently happening in our county and how can we move forward to provide healthier food for children while supporting our local agricultural economy.

Bruce Drysdale Elementary

834 North Main Street

The garden lets me learn outside of school. It let me be able to smell different smells. I like to taste things in our garden.
