My Garden Grow Love

Told by Rebecca Rider, second grader at Hazelwood Elementary, put to paper by her mom

There was once a little girl named Rebecca who had a beautiful garden. In that garden she planted all kinds of vegetables and fruits that all the wild animals would like.

She tended her garden every day while the animals watched. They watched as the corn grew tall. They watched as the peas went from their flowers to full ripe pods. They saw the cabbage and lettuce heads grow large and round.

They saw the tiny little sunflower grow into large heads full of delicious sunflower seeds. Soon all was ready for the animals to come and eat from her garden.

She sat and waited, but the animals would not come. She was so sad that they would not come close to eat. Then she got an idea. She would start again but this time she was goint to make one big change.

Once again she took all the seed to her garden, but this time before she planted each seed, she held each one close to her heart and placed a kiss on her hand as she held each seed tightly.

Soon her garden was even more beautiful than before and this time they came right up to her and allowed her to feed them.
