Learn how to work with our youngest authors by creating a supportive and encouraging environment that can energize them to create using text. The author provides step by step instructions on setting up an age appropriate writing workshop with units that cover how to form ideas, structure the text, and even develop illustrations that nourish children’s creativity.

The letters displayed in this book showcase how a woman of a different era of North Carolina became the author of A Southern Garden, a 1942 gardening book that is still read today. Through piecing together her correspondence with mentors, other writers, and friends, the editor had given us a rare look into a prolific gardener and writer of the 20th century.
