Appalachia

A young boy travels to the hills of Appalachia from Indiana to meet the old-time fiddle player whose music he has admired. A friendship is created, and over the years the boy learns not only about old time music, but also about regional traditions.

About moonflowers, their pollinators, and what happens around them. A mix of fiction/nonfiction. Peter Loewer lives in Asheville.

As the seasons change, so do the garden tasks for Uncle Dean, Granny, and Uncle Joe. Winter is a time for planning next year’s garden, spring is for planting, and summer and fall are for harvesting. Reflecting on a full year of maintaining a family garden, this story emphasizes the enthusiasm the family has during the winter for starting next year’s garden.

A beautiful, lyrical book depicting simpler times in Appalachia.
