Farm field trips teach children where food comes from and who grows it. Children today are one or more generations removed from agriculture. Many people worry that children in inner cities don’t know about farms, yet we often forget that children in rural areas aren't familiar with farms either.
On the farm, there are endless opportunities to educate children and reconnect them to local agriculture. Give children an opportunity to learn by touching, smelling, tasting, and doing.

How ASAP Can Help
Check out the resources below. Farmers and teachers can learn how make farm field trips as meaningful and educational as possible.
If you’re looking for a farm to visit, download the PDF The Hayride: A Resource for Educational Farm Field Trips. You can also search the online Local Food Guide. Just enter "tour" under the product or service category to generate a list of farms in your area that welcome visitors.
**School field trips are often a specialized service that farms may not be equipped to provide.**
