Students Get Local @ School with Chef Matt from Season’s Restaurant

Students at Glenn C. Marlow Elementary School in Henderson County, NC, celebrated Get Local @ School apple month this February by inviting Chef Matthew Linebeck from Season’s Restaurant at Highland Lake Inn to come and teach them how to make delicious apple recipes.

Chef Matt Students in Mrs. Stiles’ classroom made a Waldorf Apple Salad and a special treat called Apple Smiles. Chef Matt brought tons of local apples, and the students enjoyed peeling and chopping them for the salad and sampling different varieties. Everyone took turns measuring the ingredients and mixing them all together. Chef Matt even brought along a special treat—honey from the beehives on his restaurant’s property!

All of the students enjoyed both of the recipes and can’t wait to have Chef Matt back to show them how to make more tasty treats in the future!
