How do you grow vegetable soup? In this simple but delightful story we learn the process, from seed to soup pot. Bold, bright illustrations enhance the excitement of the gardening cycle, and beautifully display each step of the journey. This book is also available in Spanish.

Mr. Tiffin’s class is on a mission to see how many seeds are in three different sized pumpkins. They pull out all the seeds and count by twos, fives and tens to see which pumpkin has the most, and are surprised by what they discover. This book is a fun way to introduce kids to estimation; they too can count how many seeds are in a pumpkin!

Introduce students to pumpkins and how they grow. Use a pumpkin seed activity to practice sorting and counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s.

This book examines the life of a scarecrow, taking the reader from its construction to its daily activities like interacting with garden creatures. The scarecrow shows great patience and perseverance, and we see how valuable those traits can be for a gardener. Children will enjoy watching the gardening process through the eyes of the friendly scarecrow.

Teach students about the parts of plants and their functions and use the garden to teach a hands-on plant based activity.
