Potatoes

Cauliflower and potatoes combine to make a creamy soup flavored with cumin,onions, and chili powder. Reduce or eliminate the chili powder for very young children. This recipe requires the use of a blender.

When her mom runs out of potatoes, Sue sets out to learn where the new potatoes will come from. The journey takes her to the grocery store, the warehouse that supplies the store, and the farm that supplies the warehouse.

Oliver is visiting his grandfather and all he wants to eat is fried potatoes from the garden. But grandfather has an idea – Oliver needs to find the potatoes, and eat any vegetable that he finds first.

Mr. and Mrs. O’Grady are very poor and they are down to their last potato. But then they uncover a mysterious pot in their garden, and when they put one thing in, two come out! What will they do with it?

When one pig wants potatoes, it quickly grows to include the whole family!

Introduce students to potatoes and how they grow. Teach students about measurement and guide them practicing close observation through potato explorations.
